ABTR Network Expert Advances GM Crop Safety Assessment Techniques; February 13, 2009 - ABTR Network Co-Founder Sue MacIntosh recently co-authored four new publications on the safety of biotechnology-derived crops. These technical reports advance the current state of knowledge in two critical fields of GM crop safety.
The Safety Assessment of Proteins Introduced into Crops Developed Through Agricultural Biotechnology is the concluding chapter co-authored by Dr. Andrew Cockburn in a new textbook entitled Safety of Proteins in Agricultural Biotechnology. The chapter consolidates an overall risk and assessment strategy for proteins introduced into biotechnology-derived food and feed crops, and explains why some of the testing differs fundamentally from that utilised for low-molecular weight substances.
