Thenell & Associates LLC provides regulatory consulting to companies that make and market genetically engineered food and fiber crops, biopesticides, and fertilizer products.  Scott Thenell, owner and principal consultant, provides expert strategic and technical regulatory guidance for all stages of research and development – from discovery through commercialization.  Services include:

  • Negotiate product registration requirements with regulatory authorities
  • Plan and assist in acquiring global pre-market product approval data
  • Secure authorization for field studies of genetically engineered plants in the United States and foreign countries
  • Train and audit client in regulatory compliance under USDA, EPA, FDA, and NIH requirements
  • Design policies and procedures to ensure cost effective product advancement and regulatory compliance
  • Assess environmental and food safety risks to support product design and selection
  • Produce effective written communications to address stakeholder concerns about genetically engineered products

    Mr. Thenell has 30 years of experience in regulatory affairs, quality assurance and technical service in agricultural biotechnology, seed, and food processing industries.  Mr. Thenell served as Director of Regulatory Affairs for DNA Plant Technology Corporation where he provided strategic guidance for its agricultural biotechnology research and development programs.  Before joining DNAP, Mr. Thenell held technical service, quality assurance and regulatory affairs positions at Del Monte Foods USA.

     

    Mr. Thenell holds a Bachelor of Science in Bacteriology from the University of Wisconsin - Madison and a Master of Science in Regulatory Science from the University of Southern California School of Pharmacy.
